Niladri Kumar, the zitar king…He calls it zitar not sitar for the sound produced is zany and zestful! I happened to attend his show at MOOD I (Fusion) and was spell bound. Just an attempt to recapture the moment!
In his psychedelic kurta
And unruffled poise,
With his pride across,
He sat elegantly;
I saw him with skeptic eyes,
As a mysterious smile lit his face
He pluck a string and fret another,
Accelerated the hymn with couple more,
He strummed with an electric pace
And air droned with melodic pleasure;
His unkempt hair swayed in resonance;
He plunked fast, he fret faster,
Every soul boomed with ecstasy,
Every bit throbbed with joy,
Suddenly he stopped,
Ambience mystified.
He called it sound check!
If this was preview
How would be the real show?
Magician, he was
As all sat spell bound
Craving to be under his tuned spell!
And unruffled poise,
With his pride across,
He sat elegantly;
I saw him with skeptic eyes,
As a mysterious smile lit his face
He pluck a string and fret another,
Accelerated the hymn with couple more,
He strummed with an electric pace
And air droned with melodic pleasure;
His unkempt hair swayed in resonance;
He plunked fast, he fret faster,
Every soul boomed with ecstasy,
Every bit throbbed with joy,
Suddenly he stopped,
Ambience mystified.
He called it sound check!

another awesome description by u......it just seems thngs cmng out of ur blog page....thanks for the free trip....do keep visitig concerts and writing abt them...atleast then i can imagine them for free....
i liked it in my first year ... not this time that much ... the accoustic sitar sounds much much more soothing than the electric one .... no wonder he was was playing excellently i was a bit apprehensive about the whole thing ...
was it ? i was mislead by the previous commenter into believing tht it was far frm that ;)
but honestly, since i wasn't thr for MI .. so cannot blame the guy. But the poem struck a chord.. as always :)
@Deepak: Yea sure..you get me the passes ;)
@Sai: I had nothing to compare with...mabbe thats why I found it gr8!
@Arunabh: LOLzz..I found his concert pretty appealing..mabbe coz..this was the first live instrumental musicale I witnessed!
thanks a lot firstly coz i was huntin for the name of ths person..he literally played like a guitar on the [z]sitar..infact i had taken a video and my friends droolin over jst a piece of the whole awesome thingi..they cdnt believe he was playin the sitar..awesome is jst not the word..it was pure bliss 2 the ears..
Much has already been said about this new post of yours... so I'll just sum it up in one word... awesome :)
Oh and nearly forgot, 'cool' new template! (pun intended!)
as a matter of fact at a point of time i felt like going out .... it wasnt the sitar at the first place ... i am being a bad critic i know but it seemed like a somebody trying to copy an innovation like the electric guitar or whatever .... and has failed .... and i bet anyone there would have like an accoustic sitar 100 times more than that :P...... too much huh ?!?! .... i liked some part of it though :P
the poem is nice :) .... and the sitar in the pic is not an electrci one :P
@Sweet Angel: I can completely relate to that..Keep visiting :)
@Yashika: Thanxx a zillion! :D
@Sai : Thanxxx
Personal Perception..or mabbe I am not exposed to much of instrumental stuff..Still I found the sitar and the bass guitar parts..overwhelming!!
Sincere apologies for the pic...
Is this the right one?
he he ..... yep it is the right one :P . .. u are sounding very formal ... theek hai re mai aise hi pain maar raha tha ..... it was much better then i sound here .... bola na just being too critical .... cheers !!!
I used to listen to lot of classical music, flute, sitar while growing up....abhi kuch bhi nahi karta :(
